Remember to exercise your right to vote and please vote NO on Prop 8. Gay people deserve the same constitutional rights as straight people, and please help California to continue to allow gay marriage. Please check out http://www.thetaskforce.org/downloads/reports/fact_sheets/WhyCivilUnionsAreNotEnough.pdf to understand the difference between marriage and civil unions.

Please also vote NO on Prop 4--mandatory notification is dangerous and denies teenage girls the right to reproductive privacy and freedom.

It's not too late to register to vote! The last day to register in California is October 20th. There is no reason not to vote, make your voice heard in this election!

exactly one year ago Chase Rogers passed away. I went to the memorial service today. His mom hugged me and Ashley and I talked. I started to cry as I walked away from her car. Once back at school for Mock Trial I sat in my car and broke down and sobbed.

It's been a year, but it still hurts.

Please my beautiful friends, don't do drugs that can kill you. I can't lose another friend--it has been so hard placing Chase in the ground, and I can't bear the thought of having to bury one of you.

confessions: [Sunday, 8-12 @ 10:15 pm]
] I make amazing pineapple upside-down cake. My recipe is a secret, and I will give it to no one.
] I’ve never learned how to ride a bike. My father tried to teach me when I was young, but I fell off and never got back on. I still have scars from my last bike riding experience.
] I wish I had been alive for Woodstock.
] I am deathly afraid of flying—it’s generally guaranteed that I will cry at least once during a plane flight, and more than once the flight attendant has had to come and hold my hand.
] I can never spell the word “especially” right on the first try.
] For my 17th birthday my Dad gave me a CD player/alarm clock. Almost a year later I still haven’t figured out how to use the alarm clock.
] I woke up one day this summer missing my long hair. I have since then done everything possible to hide my hair under scarves and hats.
] The moment when I realized dark green is my favorite color was life defining for me.
] I think river rafting is one of the most freeing things a person can experience.
] I have nightmares almost every night unless I take Valerian root to help me sleep.
] I’m madly in love with Jeff Mangum from Neutral Milk Hotel. I’ve listened to Live at Jittery Joe’s almost constantly for the last two weeks.
] My first kiss was absolutely amazing. Two-thirty in the morning, outside under the stars right after it had rained. I hardly ever talk to the person now, but it was truly an amazing night.
] I own two copies of Ender’s Game—one to lend out and my own personal copy, which is underlined and many of the corners are folded down.
] I am naturally very clumsy. When I am intoxicated, it’s ten times worse. I’ve been known to miss chairs and fall off counters.
] I don’t have my ears pierced. When I was eight, my sister and I went to get ours done. She went first and was in so much pain she almost didn’t let them pierce her other ear. My sister has an extremely high pain tolerance, and so of course after watching her cry I refused to go.
] If I could star in my own TV show, it would be called Future Nuns of America. My friend Katie and I would play Sister Madonna and Sister Eve Mary---two FBI agents undercover in the Catholic Church.
] I’m really quite a ditz. I’m known for saying very dumb things at inappropriate times.
] I’ve been a vegetarian for so long that I don’t remember what meat tastes like.
] I am by far the shortest person in my family. My dad is 6’3’’ and my Mom is 5’7, and somehow I ended up 5’4’’.
] If I had children right now, I would name them Tessa Emmeline, Leah Michelle, Madison Nicole, and RileyAnne. I have no idea where these names came from, but I like them.
] My sister never just gives me presents—she always does a treasure hunt with near impossible hints. But it’s always worth it in the end.
] My drama teacher loves to give me crazy parts. I had to keen my freshman year and in my junior year I had to do a scene in Unamunda, a made-up language. I also had to cry in both of those scenes. And I've also had to have an orgasm on stage before.
] I can’t put eye drops in my eyes. The doctor has shown me an easier way to put them in, but I still can’t. However, for some reason putting my contacts in doesn’t bother me.
] I never read just one book at a time.
] I once broke three of my sister’s fingers. It really was an accident but she still doesn’t believe me.
] In 2nd grade I stood up on my desk and refused to take the STAR test halfway through the math section. The principle had to be called in. My scores ended up being in the 97th percentile, 93rd, 95th, and 34th. Not my finest moment.
] For my 6th birthday my father took me to see Phantom of the Opera; we had 3rd row seats. I was so scared when the chandelier fell that I hid under my seat for the rest of the first act. I’ve never quite forgiven myself for this.
] When I buy my first house, I plan to build a white picket fence around it.
] The two nicknames I am most often called are Motormouth and Dr. Boobs (thank you Shanna, I love you too).
] For almost all of my freshman and sophomore year I wore a necklace that had a handcuff charm on it. This sometimes led to rather awkward questions.
